Top Five for 2011

It’s that time to look back over 2011 for what I think are the best photos of the year. There are a number of personal and family photos that are my favorites, since they hold a special meaning. So I find it easier to not rate or rank the personal photos if possible. Here are the photos from 2011 that I was able to narrow to the top five.

Diamondback bridge

The Diamondback bridge was an interesting find in Tuscon. As you drive along Broadway boulevard you’ll notice the bridge is painted like the diamondback snake. The entry point of the bridge can be accessed through Ironhorse park, and is shaped like the head of the snake. As you walk through the bridge there is a little surprise at the end of the bridge. I’ll leave it a surprise for anyone that visits the bridge.

We were at the soccer tournament in Tuscon, Arizona this weekend when my eyes were direct up from the soccer game to the incoming dark sky.

When you’re stressed out doing your last minute shopping you never know what you may find. When I saw this it was a reminder to relax and take it in stride.

One thing I enjoy about winter is the beauty of a snow capped scene. There’s beauty in the small crystaline structures too, or that just might be the chemist side of me.

Las Vegas

When I visit places I typically don’t shoot those touristy pictures. Though when going up over 100 stories is a good reason to bring the camera along. We started the evening watching the sunset at the Stratosphere’s Level 107 Lounge for happy hour. Afterwards we went higher to get an on obstructive view of Las Vegas.

Old West lives on

This was one of the first signs I saw after moving to Arizona. The old west mindset of shoot first continues.

Old Ford

While running errands today I saw this old Ford. It’s great to see that people are still driving them. This one wasn’t a show car, but a car with plenty of use and scars visible for everyone to see. I could only imagine the stories it could tell.

Roadside left overs

You’ve heard the saying “Stop and smell the roses”. Well, its all about slowing down and enjoying the moment. Yesterday highway 17 northbound was shut down due to a truck accident. Movement was slow and nonexistent at times. During those moments what is there to do but look around. Amazing what we can see when we aren’t rushing down the road.
